Itinerary
Day 1: Masada and the Dead Sea
Embark on a captivating journey to southern Israel, traversing the enchanting Judean Hills and passing by the historic Inn of the Good Samaritan. At sea level, we pause for a breathtaking photo opportunity before descending further, venturing beneath sea level towards the world-renowned Dead Sea. Our initial destination is Masada, where a cable car transports us to the summit plateau, unveiling the ancient remains of Herod’s remarkable palace fortress, standing for over 2,000 years. Marvel at the well-preserved structures, including palaces and a bathhouse, that offer a glimpse into history. Continuing our exploration, we pass by the desert oasis of Ein Gedi and the site of Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. The day concludes with leisurely moments on one of the Dead Sea’s beaches, where the water’s 8.6 times greater salinity than the ocean creates natural buoyancy. Immerse yourself in the rejuvenating experience of floating effortlessly, indulge in a Dead Sea mud mask, and bask in the warm embrace of the glorious Dead Sea sun.
Day 2: City of David and Underground Jerusalem
Embark on a captivating journey as you delve into the ancient marvels of Jerusalem, a city steeped in history with its original settlement dating back over 3,000 years, now concealed beneath the earth’s surface. Our exploration begins with a panoramic view of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus, offering a mesmerizing sight of an ancient Jewish cemetery, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Old City below. Traverse the Kidron Valley, adorned with ancient Jewish tombs, and enter the Old City through the Zion Gate. Wander through the vibrant Armenian Quarter, adorned with brightly colored ceramics, and venture into the Old City’s Jewish Quarter, where highlights encompass the Byzantine-era Cardo and the iconic Western Wall. Pause to leave a heartfelt prayer note at the Wall before exiting the Old City through the Dung Gate. The adventure takes an underground turn, guiding you to the 3,000-year-old City of David. Explore the ancient tunnels carved from rock to channel water to the city from the Spring of Gihon. It’s worth noting that this unforgettable tour spans over 5 miles in a hilly city area, potentially challenging for those with difficulty walking long distances.
