Itinerary
Day 1: Jerusalem Old and New
Embarking on our journey, we marvel at the breathtaking panoramic views of Jerusalem from the summit of Mount Scopus. As we descend the mount, we pass by the biblical Garden of Gethsemane, the revered Church of All Nations, and the Kidron Valley, home to monumental Jewish tombs. In the heart of the Jewish Quarter, the Cardo, a testament to the Byzantine era, unfolds before us. A poignant pause at the Western Wall allows us to place a prayer note between the ancient stones, immersing ourselves in the sacred atmosphere. Our exploration then traces the Via Dolorosa, leading us to the awe-inspiring Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where the profound sites of Christ’s crucifixion and burial tomb come to life. Following a delightful lunch and a stroll through the vibrant Old City bazaar, our journey extends to the modern enclave of new Jerusalem. Navigating the contemporary cityscape, we arrive at the impactful Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. Within its walls, authentic artifacts, original documents, evocative photos, and poignant video testimonials from Holocaust survivors collectively weave a compelling narrative, ensuring a meaningful and educational experience.
Day 2: Bethlehem, Jericho and Qasr el Yahud
Embark on an enriching journey with our Bethlehem and Jericho tour, weaving through the historic landscapes that resonate with timeless tales. Traverse past the Inn of the Good Samaritan and descend beneath sea level to the ancient city of Jericho, where the legendary sycamore tree stands as a witness to Zacchaeus’ pursuit of glimpsing Jesus. Reflect on the biblical account of Joshua’s triumphant march around Jericho’s city walls, echoing through the ages. Leaving Jericho, the tour ventures to the Mount of Temptation before reaching Qasr al-Yahud on the Jordan River, a sacred site where John baptized Jesus. Continuing the odyssey, the tour unfolds in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus over 2,000 years ago. Pause at Manger Square and step into the hallowed Church of the Nativity, cradling the Holy Grotto where the nativity unfolded. Journey into the adjacent Church of St. Catherine, revealing subterranean caves with ancient tombs and shrines. Passing through Shepherds Field, the tour circles back to Jerusalem, leaving you with cherished memories of this spiritual expedition.
Day 3: Jerusalem In the Footsteps of Jesus
Embarking on a journey in the sacred footsteps of Jesus on the Mount of Olives, our exploration encompasses significant sites. We begin at the Church of the Ascension, where Christ ascended to heaven, and then move on to the nearby Church of the Pater Noster, the very place where Christ imparted the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples. Witnessing the poignant moment when Jesus looked out over Jerusalem and wept at the foresight of its impending destruction, we visit Dominus Flevit. Our pilgrimage continues with stops at the Church of All Nations and the adjacent Garden of Gethsemane, the solemn ground where Jesus faced his arrest on the eve of his crucifixion. As we delve into the Old City, we explore the historical Pools of Bethesda and pause at the revered Church of Saint Anne and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. Our journey then leads us to the 3rd Station of the Cross on Via Dolorosa, retracing the path that Jesus traversed while bearing his cross toward the crucifixion on Calvary. It’s important to note that this unforgettable tour spans over 5 miles in a hilly city area, a consideration for those who may face challenges with extended walks.
