Itinerary
Day 1: Nazareth, Capernaum and Sea of Galilee
Embarking on this captivating journey, we commence with a scenic drive along the coastal road, veering towards the historic Valley of Armageddon that grants us a panoramic view of Megiddo. Our route leads us past the majestic Mt. Precipice before reaching the enchanting Nazareth, where we explore the splendid Church of Annunciation and the revered Church of St. Joseph. Continuing our odyssey toward the picturesque Sea of Galilee, we traverse Cana, the site where Christ performed the extraordinary miracle of transforming water into wine. Gazing at the distant Mt. of Beatitudes, where the iconic Sermon on the Mount unfolded, we make a poignant stop at the shores of the Sea of Galilee in Capernaum. Venturing into Tabgha, the Roman Catholic Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes awaits our exploration. Passing by the charming Tiberias on the sea’s edge, we pause at Yardenit, a potential baptismal site along the River Jordan, speculated to be where John baptized Jesus. As our journey draws to a close, we traverse the path by Mt. Tabor, the sacred site of the Transfiguration, completing this remarkable adventure filled with historical and spiritual significance.
Day 2: Jerusalem In the Footsteps of Jesus
Embark on a spiritual journey tracing the footsteps of Jesus atop the Mount of Olives, immersing yourself in the sacred aura of the Church of the Ascension, the hallowed site where Christ ascended to heaven. Adjacent to this, discover the Church of the Pater Noster, resonating with the echoes of Christ imparting the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples. Pause at the poignant Dominus Flevit, where Jesus gazed upon Jerusalem and wept foreseeing its impending destruction. Our pilgrimage extends to the Church of All Nations and the adjoining Garden of Gethsemane, the very grounds where Jesus faced his arrest on the eve of his crucifixion. Traverse through history as you explore the Pools of Bethesda, venture into the Old City to pay homage at the Church of Saint Anne and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. Continue your sacred odyssey to the 3rd Station of the Cross on Via Dolorosa, retracing the path Jesus walked carrying his cross towards Calvary for his crucifixion. It’s essential to note that this transformative tour covers over 5 miles in the undulating terrain of the city – a consideration for those who may face challenges with extended walking distances.
Day 3: Jerusalem and Bethlehem
Embark on a profound journey to two of the holiest Christian sites worldwide – Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Our exploration commences from the breathtaking vantage point of Mount Scopus, offering a panoramic spectacle of Jerusalem. Progressing through the revered landmarks, we traverse the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations, and the Kidron Valley before entering the Old City. Within the Jewish Quarter, we immerse ourselves in the historic Byzantine Cardo and stand in awe at the Western Wall. Along the sacred Via Dolorosa, retracing Jesus’ footsteps with the cross, we ultimately arrive at the venerable Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a 12th-century marvel encapsulating the crucifixion site at Calvary and the sacred burial tomb of Christ. Departing Jerusalem, our pilgrimage continues to Bethlehem, where Manger Square beckons. Here, we explore the Basilica of the Nativity, housing the revered Grotto of the Nativity, marking the sacred birthplace of Jesus, and marvel at the original 4th-century mosaic unearthed during St. Helen’s inaugural church construction. Time permitting, we venture into the chapel caves beneath the Church of Saint Catherine. Our journey concludes as we bid farewell to Bethlehem, retracing our route back to the hotels.
