Itinerary
Day 1: Jerusalem and Bethlehem
Embark on a profound journey to the most revered Christian destinations globally – Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Our exploration commences from Mount Scopus, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Jerusalem. Traversing through the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations, and Kidron Valley, we make our way to the Old City. Within the Jewish Quarter, our sojourn includes visits to the Byzantine Cardo and the Western Wall. Following the path of Via Dolorosa, where Jesus bore his cross, we reach the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a 12th-century marvel encompassing the crucifixion site at Calvary and the burial tomb of Christ. Departing from Jerusalem, our pilgrimage continues to Bethlehem. In Manger Square, we explore the Basilica of the Nativity, housing the Grotto of the Nativity, the sacred site of Jesus’ birth, and witness the original excavated mosaic from the 4th century, dating back to St. Helen’s inaugural church. If circumstances allow, we’ll delve into the chapel caves beneath the Church of Saint Catherine. Our journey concludes as we bid farewell to Bethlehem and embark on a scenic drive back to the hotels.
Day 2: Masada and the Dead Sea
Embark on an enchanting journey to southern Israel, traversing the picturesque Judean Hills and passing by the historic Inn of the Good Samaritan. As we make our way, we pause at sea level, providing a perfect opportunity for an unforgettable photo to capture the essence of this remarkable adventure. Continuing our descent below sea level, we reach the iconic Dead Sea. Our first captivating stop is at Masada, where a cable car transports us to the summit plateau, revealing the ancient remains of Herod’s palace fortress, a structure steeped in history dating back 2,055 years. Explore the fascinating architecture, including palaces and a bathhouse, that stand testament to the past. Journeying from Masada, we traverse the desert oasis of Ein Gedi and pass by Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. The remainder of the day unfolds at one of the Dead Sea’s tranquil beaches, where you can revel in the unique experience of floating effortlessly in water that boasts 8.6 times more salinity than the ocean, creating natural buoyancy. Enhance your wellness journey by indulging in the therapeutic properties of Dead Sea mud, ideal for a natural skin mask, all while basking in the warm embrace of the glorious Dead Sea sun.
Day 3: Jerusalem In the Footsteps of Jesus
Embarking on a spiritual journey, we tread in the sacred footsteps of Jesus atop the Mount of Olives, immersing ourselves in the profound history encapsulated by the Church of the Ascension, the hallowed site where Christ ascended to heaven, and the nearby Church of the Pater Noster, where the Lord’s Prayer was imparted to his disciples. Our pilgrimage continues with a poignant visit to Dominus Flevit, the very spot where Jesus gazed upon Jerusalem with tearful foresight of its impending destruction. The reverent exploration extends to the Church of all Nations and the adjoining Garden of Gethsemane, the poignant grounds where Jesus faced his arrest on the eve of the crucifixion. Moving through the Old City, our odyssey unfolds with stops at the Pools of Bethesda, the venerable Church of Saint Anne, and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. Our footsteps align with the Via Dolorosa as we reach the 3rd Station of the Cross, tracing the path Jesus traversed, bearing his cross toward the crucifixion on Calvary. It’s crucial to note that this extraordinary pilgrimage spans over 5 miles in a hilly city area, a journey that may pose challenges for those with difficulties walking long distances. Nevertheless, this unforgettable tour promises a deep and enriching spiritual experience for all who embark upon it.
