Itinerary
Day 1: Caesarea, Acre and Rosh Hanikra
Embark on a captivating journey exploring the coastal cities of Israel, starting our adventure by heading north from Tel Aviv to our initial destination, Caesarea. Our first stop unveils the remnants of an ancient Roman port city, showcasing a fascinating blend of history through the well-preserved theater, hippodrome, and the captivating ruins of palaces, temples, and bathhouses. As we continue our expedition further up the coast, we reach the vibrant port city of Haifa. Delight in the terraced beauty of the Baha’i Gardens on Mt. Carmel, and gain insights into the Baha’i faith. Pushing onward to the northern border with Lebanon, our tour leads us to the awe-inspiring sea caves of Rosh HaNikra. Venture into the cave chambers and tunnels, where the rhythmic crash of waves against the rocks creates a mesmerizing atmosphere. Returning southward, our exploration unfolds in the historic Crusader city of Acre. Immerse yourself in the rich history as we tour the 12th-century Crusader fortress, explore Ottoman structures, and visit a former Turkish and British Mandate citadel prison. This meticulously crafted itinerary promises a tapestry of experiences, ensuring your journey is both informative and enchanting.
Day 2: Nazareth, Capernaum and Sea of Galilee
Embark on an enchanting journey commencing with a scenic drive along the coastal road, followed by a venture into the captivating Valley of Armageddon, where the ancient site of Megiddo unfolds before our eyes. Continuing our exploration, we traverse past the majestic Mt. Precipice en route to Nazareth, where the splendid Church of Annunciation and the charming Church of St. Joseph beckon us with their rich history. Our odyssey towards the picturesque Sea of Galilee leads us through Cana, the site of Christ’s transformative act of turning water into wine. Beholding the distant Mt. of Beatitudes, where the Sermon on the Mount transpired, we make a poignant stop in Capernaum, nestled along the serene shores of the Sea of Galilee. At Tabgha, the Roman Catholic Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes awaits our exploration. Passing by the tranquil Tiberias on the edge of the Sea of Galilee, our journey includes a pause at Yardenit, a potential site where the baptism of Jesus by John may have occurred. On our homeward bound route, the majestic Mt. Tabor, witness to the Transfiguration, graces our passage, concluding our day of discovery and spiritual reflection.
