Full description
Welcome to the Jericho, Jordan River, and Dead Sea Tour, a remarkable journey available from October to May, taking you to a variety of breathtaking destinations. All the incredible highlights mentioned here are indeed included in this tour, although the order of visitation may vary.
Our adventure begins in the ancient city of Jericho, one of the oldest cities in the world, steeped in history and biblical significance. Jericho is renowned for its mention in the Bible, where Joshua and his troops famously brought down the city walls in the Battle of Jericho. Additionally, in the Book of Luke, you'll discover the story of Zacchaeus, who climbed a sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus as He entered Jericho. During our tour, we make a special visit to the very sycamore tree associated with this biblical tale.
While exploring Jericho, we'll also explore Elisha's Spring, which has supplied fresh water to the city for millennia, ensuring the survival of its inhabitants in this challenging environment. Just a short 2 km away, we'll encounter the archaeological marvel of Tel Jericho, the site of the original Jericho settlement. Archaeologists have unearthed an astonishing 23 layers of previous settlements dating back to 9000 BC, with one of the most intriguing discoveries being a Neolithic watchtower dating to approximately 8000 BC.
Our journey continues to the Mount of Temptation, where the devil once attempted to tempt Jesus to forsake God. Here, a Greek Orthodox monastery seemingly defies gravity, clinging daringly to the cliffs. You'll have the opportunity to ascend to the summit via cable car, where you can savor breathtaking panoramic views.
Our tour also includes a visit to Qaser el Yahud, a significant site on the Jordan River where John baptized Jesus. At Qaser el Yahud, the Jordan River is accessible to visitors interested in experiencing baptism here, just as the Israelites may have crossed into the Promised Land.
To conclude this perfect day of exploration, our tour will take you to the enchanting Dead Sea. Here, you can effortlessly float in water that is 8.5 times saltier than the ocean, indulge in the mineral-rich Dead Sea mud, and bask in the sun on the picturesque beach.
Get ready for an unforgettable journey filled with history, spirituality, and natural wonders!
