Full description
Experience a captivating journey on our Bethlehem and Jerusalem tour departing from Ashdod port. Your adventure begins as you meet your friendly tour guide at the cruise port. Relax in our comfortable air-conditioned vehicle as we head to Jerusalem. Our first stop offers panoramic views from Mount Scopus, where you can admire the city's rooftops and domes.
The tour takes you past the iconic Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations on the scenic Mount of Olives. As we drive along, you'll glimpse the historic Kidron Valley, where ancient Jewish tombs are nestled, and catch sight of the Ophel Promenade, running parallel to the Old City wall.
We enter the Old City through one of its 16th-century gateways, providing you with a glimpse of the ongoing Western Wall excavations that unveil more of the city's ancient secrets. During a leisurely walking tour of the Old City's highlights, we pause at the Western Wall—a section of the Second Jewish Temple that graced Temple Mount until 70 AD.
Our journey continues to the Byzantine Cardo, once Jerusalem's bustling main thoroughfare, adorned with columns. Following the Via Dolorosa, retracing Jesus' steps to Calvary, we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This 4th-century basilica boasts numerous chapels and altars shared by various Christian denominations. The church surrounds the sacred site of Christ's tomb and Golgotha (Calvary), where the crucifixion took place. While in the Old City, you'll have the chance to explore traditional Middle Eastern markets and savor a delightful lunch.
Our next destination takes us beyond the Old City walls to Bethlehem. Upon arrival at Manger Square, our tour proceeds to the Nativity Church. This splendid church was constructed around the Holy Grotto, believed to be the birthplace of Christ. Following our enriching visit to Bethlehem, we'll return you to your cruise ship at Ashdod port, ensuring a memorable and seamless experience.
