Magdala
The city of Magdala, located just three miles north of Tiberias on the coast of the Sea of Galilee, is believed to be the birthplace of Mary Magdalene. It was during this time between the 2nd century BCE and 3rd century CE that Jesus taught here, and in 2009-2013 excavations uncovered what was known as the Migdal Synagogue which dated back to Second Temple period.
