Itinerary
Day 1: Jerusalem and Bethlehem
Embark on a journey to the most revered Christian landmarks globally – Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Our odyssey commences atop Mount Scopus, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Jerusalem. Traversing through the sacred sites, including the Garden of Gethsemane, Church of All Nations, and Kidron Valley, we reach the Old City. In the Jewish Quarter, our exploration unfolds at the Byzantine Cardo and the Western Wall. Following the hallowed Via Dolorosa, retracing the path where Jesus bore his cross, we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a 12th-century marvel encompassing the crucifixion site at Calvary and Christ’s burial tomb. Departing Jerusalem, our pilgrimage continues to Bethlehem, culminating at Manger Square. Here, we pay homage to the Basilica of the Nativity, housing the revered Grotto of the Nativity, where Jesus was born, and witness the original excavated mosaic dating back to the 4th century, when St. Helen erected the inaugural church. If circumstances permit, we delve into the chapel caves beneath the Church of Saint Catherine. Wrapping up our sacred sojourn, we return to the hotels, cherishing the profound experiences etched in these holy landscapes.
Day 2: Jerusalem In the Footsteps of Jesus
Embarking on a spiritual journey, we trace the footsteps of Jesus atop the Mount of Olives, immersing ourselves in the sacred ambiance of the Church of the Ascension, where Christ ascended to heaven. Our pilgrimage continues to the nearby Church of the Pater Noster, resonating with the echoes of the Lord’s Prayer as taught by Jesus to his disciples. The poignant Dominus Flevit awaits, offering a panoramic view where Jesus, foreseeing Jerusalem’s fate, wept. Further, we explore the revered Church of All Nations and the adjacent Garden of Gethsemane, the poignant site of Jesus’ arrest on the eve of his crucifixion. Our odyssey unfolds at the Pools of Bethesda, leading us into the Old City to pause at the venerable Church of Saint Anne and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. Progressing to the 3d Station of the Cross on Via Dolorosa, we tread the path Jesus took, bearing his cross toward the crucifixion on Calvary. A note of caution: this profound tour encompasses over 5 miles in a hilly city area, potentially challenging for those with difficulties walking long distances. Nevertheless, each step is a testament to the rich history and spirituality that permeates this unforgettable pilgrimage.
