Itinerary
Day 1: Masada and the Dead Sea
Embark on an enchanting journey through southern Israel as we traverse the scenic Judean Hills, passing by the historic Inn of the Good Samaritan. Pausing at sea level for an awe-inspiring photo opportunity, we then descend even further, delving beneath sea level to the mesmerizing Dead Sea. Our initial destination is Masada, where a cable car ride takes us to the summit plateau, allowing us to explore the remnants of Herod’s ancient palace fortress, standing proud for over 2,000 years. Marvel at the astonishing structures, including palaces and a bathhouse, that whisper tales of a bygone era. Continuing our odyssey, we pass by the desert oasis of Ein Gedi and Qumran, the hallowed site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were unearthed. The remainder of the day is dedicated to unwinding on the shores of the Dead Sea. Immerse yourself in its buoyant waters, boasting a salinity 8.6 times greater than the ocean, granting you a unique floating experience. Indulge in the therapeutic benefits of the Dead Sea mud, a natural skin elixir, and bask in the warm embrace of the glorious Dead Sea sun. It’s a day of discovery, relaxation, and rejuvenation amid the breathtaking landscapes of southern Israel.
Day 2: City of David and Underground Jerusalem
Embark on a captivating journey as we unveil the original Jerusalem settlement, constructed over 3,000 years ago, now concealed beneath the earth’s surface. Our exploration kicks off with a panoramic view of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus, providing glimpses of an ancient Jewish cemetery, the serene Garden of Gethsemane, and the historic Old City. Traverse the Kidron Valley, marveling at ancient Jewish tombs, before entering the Old City through the Zion Gate. Wander through the vibrant Armenian Quarter adorned with brightly colored ceramics, then delve into the Old City’s Jewish Quarter, where highlights include the Byzantine-era Cardo and the iconic Western Wall. Pause to place a heartfelt prayer note in the Wall before exiting the Old City through the Dung Gate. Our journey then descends underground, leading you to the 3,000-year-old City of David. Witness ancient tunnels, carved from rock centuries ago to channel water from the Spring of Gihon to the city. Please be aware that this unforgettable tour spans over 5 miles in a hilly city area, which may not be suitable for individuals with challenges in walking long distances.
Day 3: Jerusalem In the Footsteps of Jesus
Embarking on a spiritual journey, we traverse the hallowed grounds of the Mount of Olives, faithfully retracing the footsteps of Jesus. Our pilgrimage begins with poignant visits to the Church of the Ascension, the sacred site where Christ ascended to heaven, and the nearby Church of the Pater Noster, where he imparted the profound teachings of the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples. Witnessing the emotional panorama from Dominus Flevit, where Jesus gazed upon Jerusalem and foresaw its fate, we proceed to the Church of all Nations and the adjacent Garden of Gethsemane, where the pivotal moment of Jesus’ arrest unfolded on the eve of his crucifixion. Our spiritual odyssey continues as we explore the historic Pools of Bethesda, entering the Old City to pause at the venerable Church of Saint Anne and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. Guided by reverence, we tread the path of Via Dolorosa to the 3rd Station of the Cross, symbolizing Jesus’ arduous journey towards Calvary. It is imperative to note that this profoundly moving tour spans over 5 miles in a hilly city landscape, a consideration for those who may encounter challenges with extended walking distances.
